Fast Track To CL&F
What the Fast Track to CL&F is All About!
Through the advent of the Government on-Line (GoL) initiative
several federal departments are required to adapt to rapid advances in both technology
and process in an attempt to honour the federal government commitment to provide
services electronically to Canadians by the year 2005. This mandate is enormous when
one considers that today the Government of Canada delivers hundreds of programs and
services across more than 10,000 locations.
Through advancements in today's technologies, the GoL mandate is
uniquely positioned to exponentially broaden the reach, depth and scope of the programs
and services by providing "portals" whereby information and services can be accessed
24 hours a day, 7 days a week, "on demand", when and where required by the general
public.
Now, more so than ever before, demands are being placed on your
internal "e-facilitators" to deliver on a direct information exchange model between your
web-presence and the GoL service. In an attempt to provide a consistent message, your
web-site will be required to confirm to new standards being published by Treasury Board
designed for "compliance", namely a "Common Look and Feel" (CL&F), to ensure continuity
between your site and the federal public portal (Canada Site).
Recently, AvalonWorks conducted an electronic survey to determine
CL&F compliance across more than 1180 federally owned and operated Unified Resource Links
(URL's). The results indicate that more than 65% of these site links are non-compliant
to these new CL&F standards. To this end AvalonWorks has developed a consulting service
tailored to meet these challenges head-on.
The CL&F Migration Service Plan is designed to transform your
current web-presence into a CL&F compliant site through our extensive experience in
migration services and content management. The engagement consists of a site assessment
(audit) to determine compliance to the CL&F standards, and migration plan, and finally
if required a complete migration service to the new standards performed off-site through
our Ottawa location using our own internal development resources and facilities.
