COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY ESTABLISHMENT (CSE) LAUNCHES PROJECT USING SECUREREALMS

June 14, 2001, Ottawa Ontario

Texar (AvalonWorks Corp), a developer of security technologies designed to work across the enterprise, web and peer-to-peer (P2P) computing environments, today announced that the Communications Security Establishment (CSE) is launching a project using the company's flagship product Texar SecureRealmsô.

When completed the CSE will use Texar SecureRealms policy-based security authorization solution to protect Web and enterprise resources for access via the Internet. By integrating Texar SecureRealms with existing network security products such as public key infrastructure, CSE will enable sharing and collaboration on sensitive information by implementing clearly defined policies developed by the end user.

"Texar SecureRealms offers a solution that can help the CSE meet its next generation goals for secure information sharing across the extended enterprise and Internet," says Mac MacArthur, Chief Information Officer for the CSE. "Texar SecureRealms provides an intelligent way to manage and measure access to sensitive information. This extra layer can contribute substantially to mitigating the extra risks incurred when communicating sensitive information over the Internet."

SecureRealms is a policy-based security authorization solution that enables secure, real-time information sharing within networks and across the Internet. SecureRealms allows information owners to build policies or rules for selectively and securely sharing that information within a virtual realm. The product's policies are completely programmable, providing infinite flexibility in defining the who, what, where, when and why of information sharing. Policies provide assurance to each organization participating in the virtual realm that their information will only be available to authorized individuals under the conditions they define.

"Our relationship with the CSE is a proof point to validating the strong demand for policy-based authorization solutions existing in the marketplace today," says Robert Courteau, President and Chief Executive Officer of Texar Corporation. "What makes Texar SecureRealms unique is the flexibility and control users have in setting up policies for who has access to data and how it will be used. Our software creates an overall security solution, which incorporates and leverages legacy systems and existing products."
